Driving Growth with the Executive Order
Last week, we highlighted the ongoing appropriations standoff as an issue that would shape the start of 2022. The current continuing resolution (or "CR") will keep the government funded until February 18, but agencies can’t spend money on new projects until longer-term spending measures are approved unless they get a waiver.
With a lot of potential new agency initiatives frozen with the CR, where can government contractors look for new opportunities in the federal space?
One place is...executive orders.
As of last week, President Biden has signed 76 executive orders, more than any other recent president in their first year. A number of these have mandated changes in federal agencies; these are where you can find opportunities to pitch your services to agencies via white papers or unsolicited proposals. Consider the following:
Review the list of executive orders
Find the ones that mandate changes within federal agencies
Review the mandates to find areas where you can support the change
Put together a white paper or unsolicited proposal explaining the problem and your proposed solution
Get it in the hands of the appropriate program person at the agency
This is an opportunity to get creative and find ways to create and shape new work.
